California Bioenergy LLC (CalBio) is one of the country’s leading developers of dairy digester projects. These projects generate renewable natural gas and electricity, used as a vehicle fuel to power trucks, buses, and cars. Founded in 2006, CalBio works closely with local dairy farmers to develop projects that reduce greenhouse gases (GHGs), protect local air and water quality, create local jobs, and provide a new revenue stream along with other meaningful benefits to the dairy. In partnership with its affiliates, Midwest Bioenergy, Northwest Bioenergy, and Southwest Bioenergy, the company is undertaking the development, construction, ownership, and operation of dozens of dairy digester projects across the country.

Position Purpose

CalBio is looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to keep the office running smoothly and efficiently. This position will also support the President to help them stay organized and complete tasks to ensure efficient operation of the office.


  • Prepare communications, such as memos, emails, reports, letters, and other correspondence
  • Track and organize incoming documents from contractors and team members
  • Assisting the President with clerical items
  • Write and edit documents from letters to reports and data excel sheets
  • Run business errands in the local area
  • Help coordinate events and speaking arrangements
  • Take accurate and comprehensive notes at meetings
  • Schedule meetings, manage calendars, and host lunches
  • Plan travel, including flights, accommodations, and ground transportation
  • Manage office equipment, supplies, and needs
  • Supporting HR in recruitment initiatives
  • Answer phone calls and emails and take messages


  • Minimum of 2 years experience being an Administrative Assistant or similar position
  • Ability to make independent decisions daily, addressing the best way to handle a specific task
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Must be organized and efficient
  • Must be able to prioritize and problem solve
  • Needs high attention to detail
  • Proper phone etiquette


Work locations are industrial and agricultural, primarily outdoors in the central valley of California. Temperatures range from 40 deg F in the winter to 115 deg F in the summer. Limited exposure to hazardous materials and/or toxic fumes will require the use of approved personal protective equipment. Regular exposure to heat, noise, flammable materials, rotating equipment, and other conditions normally encountered in an industrial environment should be expected. California Bioenergy will ensure all applicable work rules and safety requirements are closely adhered to.

This position will require heavy lifting (<50 lbs) and/or climbing ladder and/or stairs, bending squatting, and crawling in tight spaces to safely access work sites.
